Breakfast is one of my favorite meals. And oatmeal is something I grew up on and always loved. I actually used to eat that packet of instant oatmeal with all the sugar and junk in it and loved it! Whew how times have changed! I make this oatmeal and many other versions for my kids so they grow up on a real whole foods and love all the true flavors of them! This combo in oatmeal is just perfect and honestly you can do anything with oats! I’ll list some suggestions below!
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups filtered water
  • 2 cups GF rolled or old fashioned oats
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
*This feeds 4-5 so you can 1/2 the recipe if you want
Toppings:
  • Any fruit: strawberries, bananas, raspberries, apples, blueberries
  • Any nuts or seeds: pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds, walnuts, pistachios, pecans, almonds, sunflower seeds.
  • 1 Tbsp nut or seed butter
  • 1 Tbsp raw honey or maple syrup
  • Other options: Any dried fruit: dates, apricots, cranberries, raisins. You could also add coconut butter instead of nut or seed butter. Oatmeal is so versatile and you could do whatever you like! Add chocolate chips and coconut flakes too!

Directions:
  1. Bring the water to a boil. Boiling your water first will keep the oats firm. You can add oats before it boils if you want a creamier oatmeal.
  2.  Add oatmeal to the pot. Bring the oatmeal to a simmer and stir often. It will start to thicken so continue to stir to make sure it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pot.
  3. Cook the oatmeal for about 5-7 minutes, or until you get the texture and consistency you want. The longer you cook your oatmeal, the thicker and softer it will become.
  4. Stir in the sweetener of choice, drizzle with nut/seed butter and layer on the toppings!
  5. Serve with any toppings you wish.

    HAPPY RECIPE SEARCHING!

Here you will find recipes either created by me or from ones I have found and changed up to my liking. I try to use ingredients that are usually 95% organic (lessen that toxic load!), very little unrefined sugars used and the majority of these are GLUTEN FREE. We eat legumes, grains, nuts, seeds, grass fed organic meats, pasture raised eggs, very small amounts of organic dairy, and lots of fruits and veggies! You can always change up the recipes to fit your lifestyle or taste buds! Thanks for supporting me and my art through food!
