Homemade Gluten Free Flour Blend

Alright. I decided to make my own blend for gluten free baking for a couple reasons. 
  1. To ensure we are giving the best of the best to our customers with Root To Rise Kitchen, we decided not to use store bought gluten free blends. They use refined white sugars and gums a lot of times and we just aren't down with that!
  2. A lot of times the baked good come out tasting odd. They have a slight baking soda/powder taste and can leave a funny taste in your mouth. I knew there had to be something better.
  3. They can be expensive, and they aren't even organic most of the time! I feel if I'm going to be spending the money, I want to get the best flours I can. Making your own is a lot cheaper because you buy individual flours but this blend lasts a good amount of time, stretching the life of the rest of the flours.
  4. Better ingredients = better body = better mind!

On that website you can literally learn EVERYTHING you need to on how to make your own and the WHY to it all.

You can get all of these flours on Amazon or at your local grocery/health food store. You can make your own oat flour by blending the oats up but I don't get that really fine consistency when I do it myself, so I buy it. You can also do brown rice flour the same way as oat flour if you wish. Just make sure you get the grains  SUPER FINE on any flour you grind yourself.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 3 cups oat flour
  • 3 cups brown rice flour
  • 1.5 cups potato starch (not potato flour)
  • 1.5 cups arrowroot powder
DIRECTIONS:
  1. Add all flours in a large bowl and carefully mix well. I used a whisk to ensure all lumps were broken up and everything got mixed up really good! Store in an air tight container or in a gallon size zip lock bag.
