Turmeric is one of my all-time favorite spices. I use it mostly in curries, to spice up sauces, to season vegetables or rice. Turmeric has many health benefits, which is why it is the number one health spice used in the ayurvedic kitchen. It is commonly known for its anti-inflammatory properties, high antioxidant amount and phytonutrients. Throughout history it has been helping people with tooth aches, menstrual pains, bruises or colics. Most of the health benefits are traced back to the main compound, curcumin, which also gives turmeric the bright yelllow color. It's good to note that adding black pepper to anything with turmeric helps to activate that compound and those benefits!

If you haven’t tried turmeric lattes yet, I advise you to start small on the turmeric, and increase the amount in your lattes gradually to work up to getting used to the flavor. You could add a teaspoon of turmeric to a small pot of warm almond milk, and then be grossed out by its grainy texture. Just like ground cinnamon, ground turmeric does not completely dissolve in lattes, so there will always be some particles left on the bottom of your mug. I like to stir the milk often to ensure I'm getting all the particles in every sip! You can enjoy this either warm or iced but I prefer it iced, especially in the Georgia heat! You can sub out the honey for any other liquid sweetener you prefer. Now go make it and enjoy all the yummy flavors and benefits!

INGREDIENTS :
  •  2 cups milk of choice, I use almond
  •  3 Tbsp raw honey
  •  1 tsp vanilla extract
  •  1 tsp ground turmeric
  •  1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  •  1/4 tsp ground ginger
  •  Pinch ground black pepper

DIRECTIONS :
  1. Combine all ingredients in a small pot and warm on medium low heat. Whisk often to combine spices well. Don't get it HOT because you'll kill the honey properties, just warm it. This will activate the spices.
  2. Once warmed, strain if needed and pour into a mason jar. You can enjoy this warm if you prefer! But I put it in the fridge to cool for about 30 minutes.
  3. Once cooled pour over ice and enjoy.

NOTE -> you can also just add all the ingredients to a shaker bottle or large mason jar and shake vigorously until it's combined well if you don't want to heat it up.

    HAPPY RECIPE SEARCHING!

Here you will find recipes either created by me or from ones I have found and changed up to my liking. I try to use ingredients that are usually 95% organic (lessen that toxic load!), very little unrefined sugars used and the majority of these are GLUTEN FREE. We eat legumes, grains, nuts, seeds, grass fed organic meats, pasture raised eggs, very small amounts of organic dairy, and lots of fruits and veggies! You can always change up the recipes to fit your lifestyle or taste buds! Thanks for supporting me and my art through food!
