Chocolate Almond Milk

Chocolate milk, we all love it. But we don't love the ingredients. A lot of times even the "good" brand of plant based milks have extra sugars, fillers and additives that are just not the best for us! This recipe is super simple and all the ingredients are from a whole food source! You can always add more dates if you want this sweeter since the cacao powder is bitter. But I found this amount to be just right! ENJOY!

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup raw unsalted organic almonds
  • 4 cups filtered water
  • 3 Tbsp cacao powder
  • 6-8 dates
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of Himalayan salt

Directions:
  1. Soak your almonds for at least 8 hours.
  2. After soaking is up, drain the water and rinse the almonds well.
  3. Place soaked almonds, water, cacao powder, dates, vanilla, a dash of sea salt and 4 cups of water in your high speed blender. Blend on high for 2 minutes. It will be milky and foamy on the top but well incorporated.
  4. In a large bowl, gently pour the milk into a nut milk bag and squeeze until all the milk has run out.
  5. Pour into a large mason jar, I filled a 32 oz jar. Cover and keep in the fridge for up to 1 week.
  6. Note: separation is totally normal, just shake before you pour!
